I got this not for a sharps bin but for a domestic setting to help with accidental spills when looking after an elderly relative. This normally involves masses of paper towels etc.This product is a revelation. The stated claim that a single sachet can absorb up to 340 ml of liquid was put to the test with a small glass of water - the water was quickly and effectively absorbed forming a gel like material. Yes - you still need to clean up the gel but this can be done with a brush.Obviously you need to dispose of the gel and of course avoid getting the product near any drains which I guess would become blocked.A minor niggle was that 4-5 bags had opened in the box so there was a lot of the material moving around in the box which needed to be removed.Highly recommended.

These sachets of SafetyGel arrived in a convenient dispenser style branded cardboard box that makes it super convenient to grab them as needed from the pre-perforated opening in the front. The only complaint I have about the packaging is that there was a good amount of loose SafetyGel bits that had worked loose from some sachets inside the box and into the outer packaging.I like that you don’t even need to open these pouches to make them work, the sachets themselves are reactive to liquids, and they’ll allow liquids to come in contact with the contents automagically by opening up with liquid contact. Much like the loose version, the sachets work really quickly, and will turn annoying and difficult to deal with messes that you’d be throwing dozens of paper towels at into something that can be quickly and easily scooped up and discarded with a fraction of the waste or effort, saving you time and minimising the risk of any cross-contaminations etc.It is admittedly quite expensive for a small quantity of granules overall but given that these are individually packaged into special sachets made for container use a bit of extra expense compared to the loose version is to be expected. But seeing as each sachet is rated for absorbing around 340ml of liquid each, a box hundred represents a pretty huge amount of liquid absorption potential overall. The extra cost also comes from the fact that this is a medical grade certified absorbent intended and expected to be used for medical waste you’d find in sharps containers. So that inevitably means it’s held to a different standard than plain sodium polyacrylate granules you could buy on their own.No complaints other than it being a bit pricey (£11.99) for the box of a hundred sachets, I'm happy to recommend it if you need something on hand that can handle water based liquids and bodily fluid spills in containers. If you aren’t necessarily concerned about getting the NHS approved stuff you can absolutely get several times the quantity for the same amount of money. Though if you can justify the expense these are very effective absorbent sachets as usual from this company.

I like to dispose of my lancets in their own sharps bin so they don’t accidently contaminate or hurt anyone from the normal bin. This is where this gives me extra peace of mind. I’ve never had any spillage, but I like the option of keeping safe.They’re small, portable, and really absorbent. I even keep on at the bottom of my kitchen bin for any leakages. They turn into a gel formula that’s easier to wipe and disinfect. Minimises odour too.Would work for any accidents at home or even on the road from car sickness. Little pieces of life savers and good quality for the price. I’d be happy to recommend.

This is a box of 100 absorbent sachets that hold 340 mls liquid. It’s listed as a sharps bin pack of sachets but they can also be used for blood and body fluids etc. If you need to empty a catheter bag whilst out all you need is one of these in a bag and then dispose of in the bin. They’re excellent value for money for that use compared to buying urine bags. I’d buy these again without a doubt.

These are so good. I have one in my sharps box for safety, but to see what they could do I out on tin a glass of water. My god. These things are magic. It doesn't seem possible with how light they are, but they are so absorbent! A weird gel is left behind, but they really do seem like magic. I don't want to imagine my sharps box without one of these in now. I might put one in the bin too.

These sachets absorb a lot of liquid very quickly so they are perfect for cleaning up all kinds of messes.Although they are designed for sharps bins, they are also useful for around the house. I have a sachet in the bottom of the kitchen bin. If the bag has a puncture or tear, this sachet will absorb all the liquid and turn into a gel that’s easier to wipe up.They are also good for making vomit bags for car journeys and around the house. They are especially good for anyone who is unwell but might not make it to the bathroom in time.If you need to absorb more liquid, you can use multiple sachets to increase the volume absorbed.The only issue was one of the sachets in my box had torn open, so the box was full of loose granules, which would spill out when the box was tipped. I needed to transfer the intact sachets into a new box.
